Where is the Smoky Mountain Learning Center?

We are located in North Carolina just Between Cherokee and Bryson City in the Smoky Mountains.

Where do we stay during the multi-day workshops?

There are several hotels, cabins, and other accomadations in the area.

What kind of meals are included?

We provide home cooked meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Barbeque, pasta’s, salads, vegetables, cold and hot sandwiches are some of the things you can expect. If you have special dietary concerns please contact us.

How do I know if a class is right for me?

Our staff can help you with the proper selection of a class or workshop, sometimes a review of your work can help to place you in a class that you will get the most benefit from.

Can I bring my Spouse?

Arrangements can be made and some workshops have a reduced fee while some only have a fee for the food. Some classes have a requirement that all attendees pay tuition for the workshop; just ask if you have questions.


What equipment do I need to bring?

Cameras, tripods, cable releases, memory cards and owners manual for camera. Computers and tablets if applicable for computer classes. Depending on the time of year and class you might want to bring some warmer clothes. Good shoes for hiking and rock hopping are recommended for outdoor shoots whether for a particular class or an extra trip just to visit some of the local area scenes of barns, mountains and waterfalls.

Do I have to pay for the class now?

A 50% deposit is required for any class more than 30 days before class date with balance due 2 weeks before class date. If you are signing up for a class in less than 30 days full payment is made at time of registration. Special discounts and or incentives available for registrations more than 90 days ahead of class. If you pay on the day of the class then you are assessed a $50.00 administration fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 15% cancellation fee for any class. You can change classes after registration for a 50.00 administration fee.
